Every broken heart fractures our world.
A crack in the sidewalk,
where dandelions grow.
A shattered mirror,
dripping glass.
A rock hitting a windshield,
leaving its long scar.
A violent loss
tore the Grand Canyon asunder.
Breaking the earth
down to its core.
There are too many stories of pain
breaking down boulders and raising mountains
to know each one.
Every crack in the sidewalk,
where dandelions grow.
Every shattered mirror,
dripping glass.
Every rock hitting a windshield,
leaving its long scar.
But I know
the story of the Mariana Trench.
10944 meters of broken earth.
A love lost, so deep
it ripped to the center of the world
where lave toils to warm her now cold heart.
Salt tears filling up the empty spaces.
