And since you are here you may as well check out the rest of City Center

So you are at the Space Needle doing the classic Seattle Tourist thing, congratulations you are already at city center.... which I don't think is actually in the center of the city.
Look around you, there is so much in this one little spot to explore; the Chihully Glass Gardens, the MoPop, The Pacific Science Center, food trucks, fountains, statues shaped like whales, and a couple of beautiful secret gardens.
Okay. No garden in the middle of a place like the city center is actually going to be secret, just a little bit hidden so that you stumble on them by accident. One of those is the poetry garden which is, honestly, one of the happiest places I have ever been. It is just a little garden space off to the side of one of the green spaces with a bench and poetry. Whoever curates it explores the idea of what poetry is and how that changes based on the medium used. When I first discovered the spot there were pieces of driftwood hanging up in a line with words and lines carved into them, forming a poem. The next time I visited the poems were written out on colorful pieces of paper. It is a quiet, magical place surrounded by the bustle of people. I don't know what it will be the next time I get the chance to stop by but I am always excited to find out.
When you get there you should you poke around for the other hidden gardens that are around and if you see a food stand shaped like a giant strawberry, try their wares, it is worth it.
