(As Published in Silhouettes of Stardust)

I boarded up my heart years ago.

I never considered it fragile

but I sealed it away in a box labeled

handle with care.

My body, I concealed

behind museum glass.

Something to see at a distance.

Never touched, for fear my skin might crumble

beneath careless fingers.

Transparent borders

are easily shattered.
