I Want to Dance

(As Published in Silhouettes of Stardust)

I want to dance and

drink Champagne. I want to Experience

Music and beautiful Art.

I want to stay out

too late laughing and

Face the Consequences tomorrow.

I want to live deeply and

Kiss Softly.

Most of all …

I want to Dance

glittering in the starlight.

music swirling around me

curling in, flying out.

Shining.

Fun Fact, I have the original copy of this poem displayed on my book case (well, one of my bookcases). It is a constant, needed, reminder of the person I want to be and version of myself who is happiest. I wrote it on what I considered wasted Polaroid pictures the first time I fell in love. It was just a list of things that that person made me feel but that I also considered part of who I was and part of striving to be the very best version of myself. I think that when we fall in love new things aren't added to us by that person, just the best parts are brought out.

"Art, poetry, love, these things are all necessary to life."
