There is no mathematic equation
to predict the curl of cream
poured into hot coffee.
Or the soft curve of a stone
tumbled down a river.
Instead we calculate
the length of shadows
cast by flagpoles,
perfect angles,
and squared edges.
A plus B always equals C.
A God rule by Mathematics
could create nothing greater
than shelves and cupboards
perfect 90 degree angles at every turn
but not the wrinkled petal of a sunflower
tracking the sun’s journey across the sky.
There is no mathematical equation
to predict the beats
of racing hearts.
Or the reason for the stars
creating pictures in the sky.
We can only calculate
hidden variables,
and perfect spheres.
Not the trajectory of magnetized souls.
When A plus B only can only equal C.
