Project 52 Week 6
Nobody every thinks that you might start a year long project at any time other than the first of the year. Which means that some weeks the prompts are meant to fit with the holiday that should appear that week, like Valentine's Day for example. The thing is, I almost never start anything on the first of the year. I don't get the idea close enough to the first of the year to wait around for it. When I get an idea I want to implement it now. Time is arbitrary anyway. Last year celebrating the New Year in Peru they kept telling me that the Inca celebrated the new year at a different time because our new year did not make sense, it's on their winter solstice instead, June 21/22ish.
See, time is arbitrary. If you want to do a year long project then start it whether new years is 2 weeks away, or six months away, or if you time just right that you'll be writing about Valentines the week before Christmas.
However, time being arbitrary does not mean that it doesn't matter or that the times we have chosen to celebrate things don't matter any more either. I know, that directly contradicts what I said in the first two paragraphs but hear me out. People tell me all the time that Christmas should be celebrated in March and that we only celebrate Christmas when we do because Christians were trying to overshadow a pagan celebration. They are probably right, but we have chosen to celebrate Christmas in December, right before the new year because that is a season that is dark and dreary (in the northern hemisphere) and we cover it with beautiful twinkling lights and cheerful songs and we celebrate the chance at new life through Christ at the beginning of the year. Yeah, it may be arbitrary but it is important to remember certain things in certain ways.
