Laurie Lamon, noted poet and professor at Whitworth University, once said to me, by way of saying it to her entire Women Writers Literature class, that you can be the most talented writer in the world but if you don't write, or only write because you have an assignment, then you are not a writer. You can have the most brilliant story in your mind or the most poetic phrase but if you do not sit down and write it then you are not a writer. That means, simply by nature of sitting down and writing, that Stephanie Meyer and E. L. James are better writers than most of us. I think about that sometimes and that is why Wednesdays are challenge days here at Shield Maiden. Every Wednesday I will post what this week's challenge is along with my own response to it. I wanted to start by trying to do a year of poetry then who knows where the wind might take us. Below is a complete list of the year's poetry prompts (one poem per week).
