Changing the Rules

Poetry Challenge Week 19

I don't make the rules.

I break them.

We don't get to choose

the rules of the game,

or read the instructions beforehand.

We are placed at the table

and told to play.

But playing is not the objective

when the rules keep changing

and pieces sweep across the board on their own.
