How do you write

against a sea of mounting apathy?

Waves swell up inside of you

knocking the words you want to say

against the rocks.

You turn your back on the shore

unable to watch the ships sink

to the depths,

unfinished projects broken on the beach.

Returning when the storm has passes

picking through the debris.
