A Collection of Wishes

There are enough ways to make a wish that if I listed them all it would fill notebooks and there would be a ton of conflicting information. I do not have that kind of time right now and even less time to go chasing after wishes. However, I am a collector of wishes and I did want to share a few of my favorites with you just in case you are ever in need of a wish.

Birthday:

We all know about making a wish when you blow out the candles but did you know you can also make a wish on the moon on your birthday? Wait for it to reach the highest point in the sky on your actual birthday so make sure you know if that will be morning or evening then close your eyes and make a wish.

Stars:

There are so many traditions around wishing on stars that pretty much as long as you don't wish on a planet you should be okay. If you really want to follow the rules these are the most important ones.

-First star I see tonight. Make a wish on the first star you see in the evening. Don't say a word until the next star appears to make it come true. For an added layer of protection put a ring on your finger while making your wish.

-The North Star. You can pretty much wish on the north star any time you want. Just remember she is pretty busy, shining, guiding sailors, etc, so you might not want to leave everything up to her.

-Shooting or Falling Stars. Even if you know that a shooting star is just a meteor burning up in the atmosphere you can make a wish when you see one. So long as you finish your wish before it vanishes.

Birds:

-3 on a wire. If you see three birds together on a telephone wire you get to make a wish. If one then flies away you know it will come true.

- Blue bird of happiness. You can make a wish on any blue bird you see but it is probably better if you know for sure that it is the blue bird of happiness. Again, you have to finish your wish before it flies away.

-Red bird. Throw a kiss at a red bird, like a metaphorical kiss, please don't throw chocolate at birds, and make a wish. If he flies off to the right you get your wish.

White Horses:

-Did you know you can make a wish when you see a white horse because you can.

New Years Eve:

-Champagne Ashes. When the clock begins to strike midnight you right down your wish on a piece of paper and burn it in a candle. Drop the wish into your champagne and drink before the 12th chime.

-12 Wishes. Write down 12 wishes on separate pieces of paper and put them in your pillow when you go to bed. In the morning you draw out one and that wish will come true. It is important to note that you have to write 12 different wishes not 12 of the same wish and you have to go to bed before 3:00 AM because that is when morning begins and the magic in the night sky disappears.

-12 Grapes. When the clock begins to strike midnight you eat one grape per chime making a wish for each month.

Nature:

-Dandelions. Dandelions are my favorite way to make wishes. Pluck a dandelion from the grass and blow all the fuzz off with a single breath while making your wish.

-Thistle seeds. Thistle seeds are big puffs of fluff that look kind of like big dandelion seeds. If you see one floating around you can catch it before it touches the ground, whisper a wish to it and blow it away.

Pennies:

-Lucky Pennies are guaranteed wish granters. First you can make a wish whenever you find a lucky heads up penny. Then hang onto it and toss it into the next wishing well you see or over your left shoulder into any fountain while making another wish.

-Wells and Fountains. If you don't have a lucky penny a regular penny will do for wishing in these things it just isn't as effective.

Man Made Wishes:

-Wish lanterns. These are great fun. Whisper your wish to the lantern and let it loose in the night sky, which I've already told you is kind of magical. I personally like to write my hopes and wishes on them for an added layer of luck

-Wish Paper. Wish paper is a special kind of tissue paper that you right your wishes on and then burn so the smoke takes your wishes up to the sky.

So, please do not pretend the airplanes in the night sky are shooting stars. If you really need a wish, I can hook you up.
